Save the Gouldian Fund

There are currently only 2500 Lady Gouldian Finches in their natural habitat in the Northern Territory of Australia and are an endangered species.  There are many individuals who are working towards restoring the Gouldian Finch in the wild.  The organization Save the Gouldian Fund’s mission is to provide funding for researchers working on the problem of the decline of the wild population of Gouldian Finches.  More...

John Gould

Born on September 14, 1804 in Lyme Regis, Dorset England was the son of a gardener who followed in his father’s footsteps.  Mr. Gould at age 16 began working under his tutelage from 1818 to 1824.  During this time he became an expert in Taxidermy and in 1824 set himself up in business in London as a taxidermist.
