Our Family

We are a home schooling family living in The Woodlands, Texas.  Having been relocated back to Texas in November 2002.  We have been home schooling Sam and Rachael from kindergarten on.  They are now 11 and 13.  The pictures are meant to give you a flavor of our family.  Our daughter is the ballerina of the family and our son enjoys karate and guitar lessons.

I fell into breeding Lady Gouldians four years ago in Virginia through a fellow breeder in Maryland, Jeannie Ferguson, since retired.  I went to purchase a bird from her and got bit by the breeding bug.  I wasn't successful at first and thought about giving up many times.

With Jeannie as my mentor though, I was bound for success. She continued to encourage me and hold my hand through the ups and downs of breeding.

So, through patience, an excellent diet, clean environment and lots of love I have been blessed with beautifully feathered Gouldians, and a precious new friend.

I am not in the business of churning out Gouldians to make a "buck".  I want my reputation to be one of excellence and integrity.  I do not sell my birds until they are fully colored out.  That way I know that the bird's immune system is strong to stand the adjustment of relocating to a new environment.  I only want beautiful "jewels" leaving the aviary. You will be purchasing a bird  of excellent quality!

When purchasing  a bird from The Gouldian Lady you will receive a "Hatch Certificate" that will give you the following information: the birds hatch date, who the bird's parents are, and the parents mutations  so that you have a "genetic history" of your purchase to assist you in making decisions if you choose to breed.

If just starting out with breeding Gouldians, it is a great adventure and the reverse is true too, it can be a time of discouragement and disappointment.  I am available to answer questions and concerns and to walk the road with you.  I was blessed to have Jeannie and I would like the opportunity to pass the blessing on and make more "new friends".

Just as a note; we had to transfer all my birds (75 at the time) from Virginia to Texas.  It was a three day trip by car.  Traveling with dogs, guinea pigs (we started out with two guinea pigs, we now have five, oops), cockatiels and finches was a real memory maker!  I am proud to say that due to the excellent health of the birds, I did not loose one bird in the transition, and talk about stress!  My little beauties stuck it out for me and are now flourishing here in Texas.  Praise God!  Only by his grace...
Willie

Blessings,

The Price Family
