Save the Gouldian Fund

There are currently only 2500 Lady Gouldian Finches in their natural habitat in the Northern Territory of Australia and are an endangered species.  There are many individuals who are working towards restoring the Gouldian Finch in the wild.  The organization Save the Gouldian Fund’s mission is to provide funding for researchers working on the problem of the decline of the wild population of Gouldian Finches.

They give aviculturists and the general public alike an opportunity to contribute to the salvation of an Australian ornithological icon. They address the negative media image of bird keeping and to present aviculture in a positive light.

They interpret new scientific data and use this to enhance the practice of aviculture.  They provide world-wide up to date information through newsletters and publications.

You can give directly to “STGF” or indirectly through the purchase of Gouldian Products by various supporters.  Bill VanPatten from www.fabulousfinch.com donates a portion of the sales of his Bird Care Products to STGF.  Alison Green has created a stunning Gouldian T-Shirt that can be purchased Down Under or Overseas http://www.savethegouldian.org/news/tshirts.htm.  Eight dollars from each sale is donated to STGF.  Mike Fidler author of “The Gouldian Finch” also co-authored by Stewart Evans, is also an avid photographer and has captured the Gouldian Finch in nature and his photographs can be purchased with a portion of the sales going to STGF.  http://www.savethegouldian.org/news/pic.htm.

Currently, The Gouldian Lady donates 7% of  bird sales to STGF to support the research efforts of this organization.

In closing, I am well aware of all the different organizations pleading for your dollars, I ask that you prayerfully consider supporting this cause.
